Ours should come next week. It's tough to throw $700+ into the wind and then wait until mid-October before the hunt.

If I want to buy a deer preference point I need a small game license approximately $83 and there’s a $9 application fee so total is around $92 correct?

Its kinda vague, but I think you have to buy a Habitat Stamp too. $10 Regs say one will be added to your application when you buy the a qualifying license. If so,that would be $102. I can't find any where in the brochure that says you don't need one to buy a preference point

If you are 65+ years old you don't have to buy a Habitat Stamp. Whoopee !!!

Am I reading correctly that 1st season opens on the 9th and 2nd season on the 23rd? I have never seen a Friday opener before, plus that 2nd season will be late.

So 10 points will cost $1020. People talk abthe rise in costs in Wyoming! 10 deer points there cost $400. 10 elk points $500. I’m looking forward to cashing in my Colorado deer points and then I’m done down there. I’ll have 9 after this year. The earliest I’ll be able to hunt is 2023 and I’ll have 11.

They have a screwup because the online shows Friday the 9th as the 1st season opener and Friday the 23rd as the 2nd season opener. Maybe they can use the money from the jacked up price and hire someone to correct it.

OK, I was looking at page 4 which apparently was showing the cutoff dates. Page 34 shows the 10th and the 24th as the opening dates. ;) I just did not scroll far enough down.

Saddlesore I’ve come too far to walk away. With 9 points after applying this year there has to be a deer somewhere out there worth shooting. Worst case scenario is I have to pay to hunt private land on the eastern plains. But I think I could still find a decent high country buck too. The unknown right now is wolves. I’ve seen what they are capable of.

Question; I see that a habitat stamp and small game license purchased this year is valid until for 13 months or until March 31 of next year. Does that mean that in 2021 I won’t have to buy those and my only cost will be the $9 application fee?

NO.I think they did that because of the Small game license going on sale March 1 instead of the old fishing licenses going on sale April 1. It will catch up after the 1st year I think. However, trying to predict what CPW will do in a year is next to impossible.

Eastern Colorado big bucks over shadow mountain mules all the time.
They have much better food.

That sucks! People have been complaining about the increases in cost for Wyoming licenses. But 10 deer points up there will total $400 and that’s for a guaranteed tag in a great area. 10 points in the Wal Mart of hunting will run a guy $1100 and the hunters who live there say don’t waste your time or money.

I’ll be glad to burn these points one day and be done with that state. The wolves can have it!

For many years my Son and I each bought a Bull License which totaled over $1,000. With the increases, we now only buy one license for who actually hunts and the other "guides". I counted up ~$762 for one license. So now we actually spend ~$240 less and still have just as much enjoyment hunting together.

I like to think that we beat Colorado at their own game. ;)
