To be successful right down your goals and share them

Postby Lefty » 09 14, 2023 •  [Post 1]

I had to get in cell reception to call my wife. My wife and my daughter need to get Bud ready.
So our goal today is to go in deep and kill us a bull or two.

We've had three very slow days in a row.

Last night I sat up late and this morning got up early to listen.

Never heard a bugle.
I had actually given up on a location where the rut usually takes place. I drove back to camp.

Andrew couldn't resist glassing the area before he came to camp.
And he watched as a 6x7 trailed by a 5x5, a spike and a bunch of cows.
So the goal is to go in and kill us some bulls
And make it back out without a heart attack.

What I do know a kill or not I'm going to be so exhausted that you won't hear from me tonight

6 miles
1200 feet up elevation
600 feet down elevation
36 cows and calves with the 5,x5
21 cows with the 6x7.
1 quart coconut milk
32 oz v 8
5 pickles
16oz fruit energy
6 oz grape juice
Lots of water
And no leg cramps
9 hours sleep for me last night . Today cleaning camp duties, laundry, gas , propane trips .

.
Both bulls were only interested in keeping their. cows away from other bull elk ( us).

We had great wind for hours.
The elk were in dence quakies most set ups were tight. And we werent getting close enough
After 3 hours Andrew wanted to take an more aggressive approach . Which the bulls didnt appreciate .
I couldn't convince him. The bulls werent responding to bugle (us). Just keeping their cows and running off
So it was a successfull hunt, no packing out of that hole :o

I had the. 5x5 at 27 but neverhad the shot .
Plenty of cow opportunities 12, 13, 14 yards.

I still don't know how those big bulls walk through those quakees .

My daughter has a new job so her hunting time is very limited this year.
She came up to hunt last night,
She said the rules changed she was going to shoot anything,
We put a cow elk in front of her at 27 yards but her arrow hit a berry bush .

Never heard a bugle
