Due to the fact you are reading this post on this forum, I am guessing Elk hunting is high on your favorites to hunt list. But lets rank them. What is your favorite critter to hunt? Here is the correct order in case you didn't know:

1. Elk
2. Antelope
3. Deer
4. Pheasant
5. Duck
6. Turkey
7. Grouse/Partridge
8. Predators
9. Geese

Of what you have there that I have hunted I'd put them in this order.

Mule deer
Blacktail deer
Elk
Pheasant and quail
Grouse
Duck

Antelope is on my list for 2025 and I'm sure it will land top 3.

Hey 7mm, I broke apart deer into Muleys and Whitetails. however, Blacktail didnt make the cut. I did this mostly because blacktail are so localized that most people dont really get a chance to hunt them but partially because then you might vote for pheasants which Iike better anyway! Ha, my poll, my way of cheating!

They are beautiful birds. Used to do real good on them in NW Montana back in the day.

Good thing we had a choice of three. but iff I live in hot white-tail country I could see Whitetail taking the lead.
Bear wasn't on the poll ,, I'm not sure which animal would go.


Antelope always was a great family and group hunt
Elk,,, my wife seems to have lost interest in hunting with us
Geese. Relatively an easy hunt,,, where success was almost guaranteed
Bear fun to set baits and check trail cam
`Mule deer,,, I may as well give up,,, my wife had a pile of horns that I could never match
Pheasant,, Use to enjoy chasing them in Iowa,,, But after spending time in SD and my main source of too many meals ,,, just tired of them a bit now hungarian partrige and chuckars,,,,
Predators,,, I would kind of like to run a prairie trapline,,, I kind miss doing what I cant do

I can switch into mule deer mode if it’s a nice buck fairly fast. If not it’s back to elk.

Definitely want to get me a bear with my bow though
