2024 Plans??

Where and what will you be hunting in 2024? What weapon?

I will have an elk, mule deer, bear and wolf tag this season in Idaho.

I will be putting in for either a hard to draw rifle tag for bull elk and buck mule deer. At least that’s my plans as of now. This means I will probably be archery hunting for elk and deer this season.

Any reason youre going out with bear and wolf tags but not a lion tag?
So far this year all ive bought is an idaho lion tag and 3 wolf tags. Ill buy a bear tag on my way over this spring.

I’m sure there are some lions in the area, and now that I type this you know one will come into my tree stand this year. But in over 12 years of running more then 7 trail cameras I have never gotten a lion on camera. Never even seen a track in the area. So I just usually don’t get one. Lots of bears in the unit and plenty of wolves around to unfortunately

No luck in the OOS tags this year so far. Got a pretty good “point” tally in the Evergreen State so hoping for a SPEC permit elk tag. As usual, I’ll be hunting the Grey Ghosts close to home.

I was lucky enough to grab an Idaho deer tag for a unit I like. I'll be putting in for some of the controlled hunts as well. Other than that I'll plan on hunting deer and bear here in WA, and maybe pick up an elk tag, we'll see.

Lots of options and much could be put on hold if I get to build my retirement home. My health is continuing to get better We sat down with our financial advisor and broker and Shared our planned budgets ( very frugal by most people's standards.


Ducks and geese this week, Area 1 Idaho
Coyotes till Feb 5th Idaho. Headed south to look for possible coyote and cat trapping in a warmer climate ( 24/25 season)
If enough snow melts today I'll chase cats , snares
March Snow geese SD Maybe April maybe ND too
Maybe fish a bit,, Idaho Montana maybe South Dakota. I also want to do a couple of serious backpacking trips, in the Winds, Continental Divide trails
700 trail miles on the ATV
20 nights in the little tents * packed in)
April May June will likely need to kill foxes for neighbors otherwise bear baiting, cameras, and maybe shooting Blonde the bear.
Considering August antelope archery in Idaho
September archery bull elk
maybe slip in October waterfowl Idaho Montana unless I pick up a partner to canine trap Dakotas or Nebraska.
Idaho rifle deer October
Muzzleloader season, for elk if I didn't kill a bull
Then waterfowling maybe trapping .

Going out tomorrow for my first hunt of 24. Going to try to call a lion in for a guy down the road, and ill be packing the 223 incase i get a chance at a bob or yote in the proccess.
