35 years ago I thought it was great that SD had maps available for all the statelands

Idaho has a wonderful mapping program with lots of overlays including hunt units, and land ownership
Motorized and non motorized trails, access yes, etc http://fishandgame.idaho.gov/ifwis/huntplanner/mapcenter/

Does your state have anything simular or better?

Here is a better program for aerial photos with more detail than google earth: http://www.arcgis.com/explorer/ You do need to download Microsoft's Silverlight program to use this site. Once on this link go to the aerial photo on the left side of the screen and zoom out to see the whole country.
