Elk Antlers?

For those that shoot only bulls.

What do you do with the antlers?
The bull antlers that I have shot [mixed in with the cows I shot], typically get thrown on top of my barn. Or given away
Unless they are worthy of hanging in the house

Dang, don't let them get all bleached out like that. I use mine for knife handles when I decide to make a new knife. I hang some in the garage and hang a bunch of them from the rafters of the barn.

The antlers from those I have shot serve as a trophy or reminder of the adventure. Sheds that are fresh I find serve as decorations for my man cave, older sheds that are already bleached out serve as yard decorations.

I keep each and everyone in the same shape they were when I took the bull. It serves as a reminder of each hunt throughout the year. I love thinking about the hunts and the details of how evrything went down..

There is an elk ranch here in Michigan and when the cut the antlers off before the rut they take them and cut them into about 8" pieces and split them down the middle with a band saw and sell them at dog shows for $20 a pound for dog chews, those dog show people buy them up fast but i think there nuts for paying that kind of money for dog chews.

I have mounted a few, but most I give away. My brother does some awesome art work with the ones I give him.
