Not so private message to Indian Summer

Postby 2Tangled2 » 03 19, 2013 •  [Post 1]

Indian Summer, here are some of the pictures that I tried to send you in a PM, but it kept giving me an error message that read something like "this kind of extensions are not allowe". If any of you recognize this area, please keep it to yourself, and enjoy the pictures. I've been one of those "Lurkers" for some time, and now I'm paying the price for not knowing how to do these kinds of things in these forums. (i.e. not knowing how to post comments like below, and have them coinside with the picture underneath each one all within one post, resizing (finally figured it out), and I'm sure many more yet to come).

This is looking at the mountain from ridge below...

I've finally figured this out after two hours of insert, and delete

some wallows/water holes...

Just learned you can only post three attachments per post, so I guess I'll post this first.

I loved this shot of this cow cranking her neck because she knew something wasn't right with the scenery. I had built a ground blind just 20 yards below the waterhole they had been using, problem was I wasn't in it

That is a very nice place. That camp set up reminds me of some of the base camps we use to use. We called it "Camp nothing left behind". Looks like you have at least one good elk in there.

Thanks everyone for the compliments, and accolades for the camp we put up. We don't have a big screen TV, but are contemplating bring a satilite dish so we can watch some UW Huskies or Seahawk football games over the weekends when we rest up a little, and let the weekenders have at it. What you thought was a big sreen TV is an outside cooking unit on the back side of the trailer that lifts up, and you have a refrigerator, sink, cupboards, BBQ, and burners that pop out. That was the one of the reasons I bought this trailer (Larado 303). I usually hunt the entire archery season, and now that I'm retired (I'm single also) I plan on getting there even earlier. I have a another freezer the same size in the trailer just encase we get lucky enough to harvest more than one. I live in Bremerton, Washington, and have been looking at areas from Grangerville south along HWY 95 to New Meadows, Idaho, but haven't really had the time yet to physical view the surrounding areas. I suppose you could say I'm definitely stalking Elknut now, holy crap. :o This will be our fourth year hunting this area, and I can see the learning curve slowly closing, and hoping this will be the year. It takes only one day to break camp, so it's alot easier than the our previous wall tents, kitchen cazebo, and shower we use to set up in our Montana elk camps. Those were brutal two day set ups, and take downs. Thanks again, and good luck this season. Jerry

For over 40 years we tented it. Now retired, we use trailers, satelite dishes and TV's. We have been useing the generators and freezers for around 25 years. My friend from Texas has his Direct TV dish and I use Dish Network, so we have to set up 2 dishes. We stay the entire archery season plus the 4 days before the opener for scouting and setting up camp. I've taken several bulls less than a 1/2 mile from this camp. Life is tuff. ;)

I hear you CEH, my earlier elk hunts were pretty primiative, but each year we would add something knew (i.e. shower, wood pellet stove, campfire awnings for late season rifle hunt, and a 16 ft travel trailer that I scrapped out the inside to be a kitchen, and to haul everything else in). This new Larado I have is so much more comfortable, but I still need to watch what I bring. I'm always in that "this would be really neat thing to bring" mode, and sometimes have to slap myself.
