I'm the newbie!

Postby Mikeha33 » 04 24, 2013 •  [Post 1]

Hey All,

I'm brand new to the sport of elk hunting, and currently planning my first trip out West this fall, in CO, a DIY 7 day archery hunt (going with seasoned hunters). I just wanted to say I've been lurking around here, reading the posts, making notes, and prepping myself, and am in love with this site. Im sure there are some wackjobs that creep around here, but for the most part, most of you seem like very well spoken and helpful people. Im gonna be chiming in alot in the future, and I'm as green as you can be, so a lot of my questions and posts may seem just down right stupid, but bear with me, and lend a helpful word if you have one, or hell, make fun of me, I can take it! Just wanted to say Hi!

Look forward to being a sponge!

Welcome Mike. After this Season, you will have a lifetime addiction.

The stupid answers get much worse treatment here than the stupid questions

Welcome Mike.

There's only one stupid question, it is the question not asked. :-)

Hey, maybe they should put that in a fortune cookie?

I have news for you. Us wackjobs are the ones who are well spoken and helpful! :D

If I had to guess by a first impression I think you're going to be an elknut yourself one day. Welcome Mike and good luck this fall. Joe

Indian Summer had a great response. We all come with different experiences and different, perspectives, values and objectives. One size does not fit all. You may get some "bad" information here alright. We all have a lot to learn. The honest folks will admit it. What I see is the cumulative knowledge a number of excellent hunters, and some trying to catch up. Just hang around here and you should be able to really advance your elk hunting game.
Anyway, welcome to the forum. Good luck on your hunt.

Welcome, sounds like you have a good thing going with seasoned elk hunters. Couple that with the info you will gain on here from the elknuts, and the learning curve may be a shorter one for you. Good luck and take notes!

JohnFitzgerald said: "There's only one stupid question, it is the question not asked.

And I'd say: There are two CORRECT answers to any question: the correct answer, and "I don't know"

In other words, B.S. isn't allowed.

I guess that's another thing that brought me to the site.

Thanks again for all the help, guys. And welcome.
