Not sure...
Try Bing Maps and then switch to Birds Eye view and rotate around the spot.

Flash Earth is good too. Clearer than GE

Holy smokes, if there is water where you've marked it, it may be a honey hole for sure. What state are you researching? Looks dry as the Mohave there.

Here ya go whitey. Bing maps is like many of the others but as cnelk mentioned, the bird's eye view is pretty nice. I also like Acme mapping.

Go to MSN.com

In the search area, type in the closest town/locale

Enter

Then Select 'Maps' just above the search bar and it will take you to to your area.
You will see the Birds Eye option on top of the map.

Find your spot

Good luck

Water is pretty easy to spot. I would guess your spot hold water for a short while during monsoons. I would keep looking in that Oak brush for one that shows water, then check the photo date.

You're just going to have to go look and see if it has water. Your first spot will clearly hold water; question is, for how long.

May like to try this one too: http://www.arcgis.com/explorer/ then go to the "USA Imagery Map" which shows a close up of Washington DC. Then zoom out and move to where you need to go. We use this program at work and the detail is so sharp you can see cattle in the fields or around watering holes.
