Utah Elk meat donation

Postby Migolito » 07 10, 2013 •  [Post 1]

I have two antlerless Elk tags this year(with my son it's 4). I usually try to donate some meat to local charity(s). I'll be hunting North Manti, does anyone know of any reputable charities in that area?

Just my freezer, but not sure that's what you're looking for.

My church gives out food to those in need in our area. I'm not certain whether they have the capacity for something like that but I'd imagine a lot of churches have similar programs if not.

I would only take what you need and let the rest go on with life. It seems like the wolves are taking more than there share anyways !

Each of them cows could give us a couple or more elk next year. We had an awesome year last year and called in over 40 bulls and we shot them all............. with the video camera.

Just think there could be a huge 7x7 walking around in the next couple years from one of them cows !! Now let the fun begin !! jmo

I don't donate because I 'take too much'.

Yep BBQ season makes the meat go fast and it's been a great season for BBQ. I just got into a smoker as well and that seems very cool as well. It's endless what can be done now.

Hey Migolito . . . I lived and worked out of Ephraim in 2011 and spent about 2 years in Utah in general. Love and miss the area! Great canyons and habitat out there, and tons of wildlife. Lots of jackrabbit hunting in Ephraim Canyon too . . . if you are so inclined. :) Anyways, Utah Food Bank is probably your best bet. There's a food pantry in Mt. Pleasant, about 30 minutes or so north of Manti. Here is their info:
