Tree Abuse

Postby WapitiTalk1 » 07 15, 2013 •  [Post 1]

You'll never amount to anything more than a sapling! Don't look now, but you're roots are showing. Really....that's as golden as your leaves get Ms. Aspen? They're merely yellow! Sorry, wrong kind of abuse :D

Reminder that tree/brush raking is a form of elk communication/advertisement that is a very handy tool to have in your elk kit bag. Sometimes, in areas that perhaps get significant pressure (or even those that do not), raking brush and using other non verbal elk communication is a method that will get old stinky to come in closer to play a hand of cards with you. I've used raking trees, stomping back and forth, and scraping (like pawing) the ground with good results.. Sometimes it's not even necessary to make vocal noises to peak an elk's curiosity, or, make him want to pee in your cheerios. Just have that other tool ready to deploy if the situation develops correctly, a nervous/popping grunt to stop Bullwinkle in his tracks.

Oh snap, almost forgot. If you can't find a branch handy to rake the tree, there is always option two although it never seems to work for me. Maybe not enough effort on my part? Bet you're really concerned now JF ;)

This one is my favorite... I personally like the shavings on at the base.

Be careful RJ, you might be reported to DORC for such abusive language!
