dman35 sorry to here about your health problems. I have two relatives that shoot low poundage because of health problems, one shoots 43 lbs shot clean through a cow at 25 yards. The other shoots 47 lbs and killed a yearling cow 3 years ago. Use good razer sharp broadheads and you will be ok.

Good luck and get better. fm

Paul (Elknut) and others helped me select my low poundage setup. I am a woman who only reached 50# this year because of a shoulder injury in January.

Here is what I am doing for this season. I have not harvested an elk yet, but I have faith in my setup.
Mathews Jewel at 50#
24DL
205 fps
Easton Axis N fused 400 spine arrow 407 grains total weight with 125 grain Magnus 4 blade buzzcut stingers
FOC approx: 14.8%

I am limiting my shots to broadside or slightly quartering away within 25 yards.

If they started you on Physical Therapy, make sure you tell the PT that you do archery and they may give you specific exercises to help. After 12 weeks of PT, my arms and shoulders are better than before I injured my bow shoulder.

I wish you well and speedy recovery.

Wow, sorry to hear that Dman! Hope you are able to rehab and get the movement back. My dad had a stroke and lost a lot of movement in his left side but was able to regain quite a bit of motion - enough to rifle hunt, anyway. Keep your head up and keep working at it and we'll all be rooting for you!

I admire your grit and determination dman35. Best wishes on your hunt. Don't worry about your bow draw weight. Just make a good hit.
