Where are there bulls?

Postby Sucobowhunter » 08 08, 2013 •  [Post 1]

So I have been scouting lately and I keep seeing the same herd of about 60 cows and calfs but no bulls. Will the bulls be hanging super high in elevation? or just hiding out in the trees more. I have been seeing them at about 10000-10200. I live in the rockies of colorado at 9000. Thanks

They are hiding!!!

I took a little scouting trip the other day and my dad took another a few days later. I saw 150+ cows/calves/spikes and he saw one bunch of 60-70 head of the same. I drove to the highest point in the area at first light and glassed and saw more cows. No branch antlered bulls.

I see literally dozens of bulls during the hunt, so I'm not worried. I think they just hole up where they have what they need; food, water and shelter.

At this point, I'd rather know where a bunch of cows are vs a bunch of bulls.

Sounds like they are still in the bachelor groups. You found the cows, that will be very important come season. I wouldn't sweat it.
