hello everyone i am planning on hunting the 2nd rifle season for elk in the flat tops wilderness area in Colorado in unit 24. I was wondering if anyone has hunted there and have had success or have no success. any tips on hunting it or any info at all would be helpful. Thanks.

The flat tops get hit pretty hard. Especially in 2nd and 3rd seasons. So expect to NOT be alone. That being said. The flat tops hold good numbers of elk and have been pretty successful for lots of people. I don't hunt it, but my dad use to hunt it in the late 70's and 80's. Good luck and post up what you think of it when your done hunting it.

I hunted the flat tops 5 years ago during the first rifle elk season. Saw some elk. But I was amazed by how many people were there. Never had a desire to go back. And I'm talking the wilderness area, not just somewhere near the flat tops. Areas near the flat tops wil be flooded with ATVs and people driving around from sunrise to sunset.
