14 days and a wakeup!

Postby Bullnuts » 08 16, 2013 •  [Post 1]

Everything's packed, bow is shooting darts, got new strings and cables for the back up bow and put them on last night, so now I just have to buy propane and groceries and I'm ready! This is the first time in a bunch of years that I've been ready to go with so few things left to do at this point. Who else is ready?????

Yup. Ready here.
Putting on some finishing touches tomorrow.
Headed up on Sunday again to set more tree stands and check trail cams.
The plan is coming together now

I'm ready with the exception of tuning broad heads (a big one - I know) and buying tags and food! I'll have that done with at least a week to go and will continue shooting a "dirt-y broad head" until the opener.

Let's DO This!!!

About as ready as I have been ... it's down to food and minor details. Bow is "on"; scouting going well; checking trail cameras again soon.

Just waiting for new sleeping bag to arrive (target date is 9/9/13, so I'll need to hope for warm weather on earlier overnighters.)

21 days until we start the road trip to head west. Bow is ready, food is bought and planned for each day, meat locker planned out if we get one down early, clothes and gear in a separate bin with check list near by before stowing for the trip.

Few extra things I am on the edge about. Decoy: found one for sale locally and not sure if I want the extra weight/really know how to use it properly. Judo tips: saw a couple grouse on the scouting trip and trying to decide if they would be worth the hassle some nights. The next two weekends dedicating some good time to wearing all of my gear with my pack on going through cold calling setups as well as trying to do some shooting through trees and brush. Also adding kneeling sitting and standing to the shot arrangements.

Feel 10x more ready than last year, although its about the unexpected things. What the heck are those elk going to do!?

Can't wait! I head out the 12th and have just a few little minor things to grab before I hit the road. I can't wait for my first elk hunt, it's gonna be awesome!

Ready!!! And jonesin' something fierce . . . 18 days left. We are packing in our camping gear and caching next weekend, and hanging another stand or two. Won't be much left to do after that except hike in on the 2nd and get ready for the morning of the 3rd! I can hardly stand it.

I am nearly ready. I will be hooking up the trailer in a few minutes. Everything is packed except for the perishable groceries and the things I use on a daily basis. I plan to pull out Monday morning, and be gone for who knows how long.

I need to wash my clothes and I'd be ready. The licenses are in hand, the food is packed and all purchases have been taken care of. 28 days until we leave. Good luck to all.

I leave for a five day early elk season WA hunt on the 4th. Back to work for a few days and then off to ID for the last two weeks of SEP in pursuit of some snot nosed bulls. Yes sir, I'm starting to get a bit antsy and starting to feel "it".....

I think you just got yourself a new handle!

I stopped in at the new Cabela's in Lone Tree yesterday to pick a new set of camo pants up for one of the kids. I walked out with 2 pairs of pants and that was it! Now I KNOW I have everything ready to go!

I am nearly packed myself and leave in twelve days for CO. I'll start with a little elevation acclimation by wetting a flyrod before picking up my hunting partner. Then we mule our camp into the wilderness for 9 days of hunting that we have only ever read about. :D

Sounds like an awesome time! Only wet the fly line, though, and not the rod - they're too expensive to send swimmin' :P
