elk bugling in co..

I was out scouting this afternoon and it happened..(insert bugling sound here)..I heard my first bull bugle this year!! The cows were talking very actively and he sounded off.. He never showed himself but he deff was bugling trying to get him some cows.. Hopefully this could be an awesome year of elk hunting..

Doesn't that just trip yer trigger! Great to hear them this early in the year . Have you been getting some decent moisture up there?

Yep the first estrus cycles are about to happen any day now with some cows and the bulls know it.

I love the fact that we're opening so close to the first of September this year instead of the middle of August. I've had elk bugling in the early season, but they just seem to be more willing to commit when the season opens later. 12 days and a wakeup!

What part of the state is this? This is great news to hear. Headed up there in 8 days to hunt the first two weeks of the season.

I heard the elk bugling in summit county and the moisture was good but no rain for 3 days now. It has been frosting up here every night.

That is really good news. I really cannot wait to get up in the mountains. A little frost on the ground is great.
