Weekend Scouting Pics

Postby LckyTylr » 08 26, 2013 •  [Post 1]

Had a good scouting trip this last weekend. My parents are visiting from Upstate NY where I'm from, so I was lucky enough to take my Dad with me. We had a good time, this was his FIRST trip to the Mountains of the West. He's driven around over here before, but never really gotten off the beaten path. I showed him how Elk hunters do it. :-)

Saw about 18 mulies, 8 or more of which were bucks. Saw three 4-points and 1 decent 3-point (pictured). MOST IMPORTANTLY, I spotted a small bull just outside of where we camped. Also spotted a cow. Didn't see as many elk as I have on previous trips, but with my Dad, we didn't hike in as far as I normally do.

Either way, we had a good time and it was fun to share this experience with my Dad. He really enjoyed it.

Thanks all. Indeed, I'm a very lucky and fortunate guy.

Add to that . . . tonight I finally found the time to shoot my broadheads out of my new bow. Field tips were grouping better than I have EVER shot. I'm always nervous when leading up to tuning for broad heads. Last year it took me a solid week to get my bow to where I was comfortable shooting broad heads out to 50 yards. This year, I had nothing to worry about. :-) At 60 yards, I consistently shot within an inch of bullseye. Dang this bow is awesome! Bowtech Assassin . . . I think those Elk and Mulies should be worried.
