Artificial scents?

Postby mjblowers » 08 29, 2013 •  [Post 1]

Anyone here use them? Swear by them? Swear NOT to use them?

I'm curious if they do more harm than good. I have those smelllllllllllllllllllly wafers, and I've had big boys come in before with them on, but if it doesn't really matter either way, I'd prefer not smelling "crap" the whole day.

Used them for several years, but have learned if they can smell the wafer they can smell you too. Spraying or putting jell on a tree is more affective that they smell before hitting your scent in certain set ups.

+1
Artificial scents don't cover your body odors and in fact they don't even do a good job masking it. Hunt the wind.....always!

Do you really think those wafers smell like elk?

Not even close.

If a bull came in while you were using one he was upwind.

I'd rather smell like woodsmoke than any scent. I have been known to roll in elk poop though and if I come upon fresh urine I make sure I get it all over my boots.
