We missed opening morning!!!

Postby cnelk » 09 02, 2013 •  [Post 1]

Hi all!
I'm sitting in one of my tree stand with my iPad. The only one that has cell service.

Yes. We missed opening morning!
I mean we ALL MISSED!!!!
4 guys - six shots!!!

Yours truly had 3 of those!
So much for the Cold Shots we did huh? ;)

We are seeing elk everyday.
Some bugling.

It was so great to see my son get his 1st shot at a cow elk!
You should have see his arrow shake at full draw!
He had to let down and redraw. He shot low at 40yds

I shot high on one, hit a tree on 2 different elk and hit a branch...

My buddies also shot high and the other hit a shoulder using a RAGE.
It broke off at the Broadhead. I'm sure the elk will live.

Well, that it for now... I think I hear an elk.
Time to hunt.

Hope you enjoyed the teaser!
More to come!

Good luck to all

not sure if that's fun or aggravating, but sounds like an awesome hunt.

OMG ! That is so exciting. I can't wait to get out there. I'm not going until the 19th - 28th of Sept. I can't wait to see what my first day will be like.

I have a dozen new ICS shafts. Let me know what color fletch you want on them. Sounds like you might need more arrows. LOL! Can we change your handle to Cntree??

Sounds like you are in a hot spot. Shouldn't be long before your season is over and you can devote all your time to helping you son get one.

Six shots fired sounds like some seriously exciting hunting... I was super pumped to *almost* get a shot off once.

Trees are tough to shoot through. My opinion is you should shoot around them instead.

Update

We are continually seeing elk.
We have seen 52 elk now in 5 days of hunting - all less than 100yds - closest being 22yds

If not for bad luck, we wouldn't have any luck.

You can read books, watch videos and go online, but NOTHING will teach you elk hunting, only the elk will do that being the teacher...

The details of the hunt will be great wintertime posts...
