How late Does the rut usually last?

Postby whitingja » 09 16, 2013 •  [Post 1]

Can't get out again til the 26th. Will the rut still be going on good and bugling? I know this varies every year, but on average? I know that sometimes in colorado, the peak doesn't really hit til the end.

26th isn't that late. The first week of October bulls may go off on their own but even then they'll still bugle. There may not be as much bugling going on as from the 15th to 25th but I think you'll get something going.

And yes.... varies by area. Also by how much pressure there's been. Where I hunted last year they bugled hard until mid October. I was surprised how hot they were but a friend told me to expect it there. Things get started late there too.
