Colorado draw results?

Postby VT Sasquatch » 05 17, 2016 •  [Post 1]

Do the results come out earlier than June 1 or do we have to wait? I saw another site where people seemed to already have the results. Thanks

The "back door" is available now for deer apps in CO. Go to the CPW apply for licenses page. Log in w personal info, click on products purchased (or similar, last of 4 buttons). Licenses you applied for will have a 4xx code in front of the. Licenses you drew will have a 5xx code. Today my deer app had a 4xx and a 5xx code, meaning I drew something I applied for. The back door does not show which choice I drew. My elk app only showed a 4xx code, that drawing has not taken place. Good luck.

The elk draw is now in progress based on pref points being removed online. I am not sure if they work on the draw over the weekend or not. My guess is probably Monday or Tuesday for backdoor results.

What does 055 nres either sex elk mean? We put in for a draw unit and then checked the box for a either sex archery if unsuccessful? Did we draw or get the either sex archery?

Yeah I'm wondering if you get a 5xx if your getting a refund. Because I had ML first choice, first rifle second and refund if no draw

Mine has a 481 next to my application so I guess I didn't draw. I'll have to figure out how to get the refund and but an OTC tag.

Bow4me: I put only a first option (muzzleloader) and a refund for my second. Mine says 481 so I think you are probably in good shape.

Mine did say 481 and it changed to 581 so I'm guessing it has to do with the hunt code for the GMU you put in for. Just a guess

Any 500 code means you drew a tag, However, you cannot determine if that tag was 1st or 2nd choice. You will have to see if your pref points change to determine that.
I drew a ML cow tag and a ML doe deer tag

I didn't have a PP and both hunts I put in for have little or no chance of being drawn without points so it's good either way. But it's going to be a long week wondering.

I tried to log in with CID # and Last Name, both gave me this error message:

"I'm sorry but no results were found for the CID and Birth Date Given. Please check your search and try again"

I called DNR and the lady told me they closed the back door, she put in my CID number and it worked fine, but said there was no codes to view.

Yeah, it looks like I didn't draw a tag. I didn't expect to draw since I tend to not be lucky in that kind of way. I bought a bow with the assumption that I wouldn't draw. I'm planning to buy an OTC archery tag for Unit 41 once they become available.

Does anyone know if you get an automatic preference point if you fail to draw? I don't remember if there was a way to request or purchase one.

Never mind I found on another site how to access the back door. Had code 588, I guess I got antlerless ML elk, that was my only choice?

For folks like me not familiar with the process:

Go to the CPW site Click on the "Buy/Apply for licenses" link
Log in and go to "Habitat Stamp and all other licenses"

There will be a list of "Products already on file" at the bottom of the page

If you drew, you will have an item that starts with a 500 number and it will not say 'App' after the species

I must be looking in the wrong place. My outfitter says I drew 1st rifle but this is all I see: "Preference Points for a specific species WILL NOT be shown, while the lottery draw for that species is 'in process.'" And "No results found." He says I had a 581 code!

So to confirm I am interpreting this correctly I read this as I got a deer tag but not antelope or elk. Or does the status also have to change from 480 RES ELK APP to 480 RES ELK like the 490 RES DEER APP changed to 590 RES DEER? Sorry for my ignorance as the above post was pretty clear but wanted to check...

I am listing:
2016 - 462 RES PRONGHORN APP
2016 - 490 RES DEER APP
2016 - 480 RES ELK APP
2016 - 590 RES DEER

Yes you got a deer tag.
No you did not get an elk tag.
Antelope - the draw hasn't happened yet but should within a day or two. Our antelope points are no longer showing up on the CPW website which means the draw is in progress. Good luck!

Postby Deafirishman » 05 25, 2016 •  [Post 33]

Myself and Friday have been checking via backdoor and both of us are still showing 481 yet. We applied as a group with 5 of us. All of us had the same amount of PP and the unit we applied for, we had more than the number of PP required for a chance at 100% success to get a ML draw for elk non-resident. My question is, does the backdoor results change every day or is the 481 pretty much guarantee we didn't get drawn ? Thanks in advance.

Not 100% positive, but the draw and results are all on one day.
Did you apply online?

Of not you might have had a small error that threw you out of the draw, or pref point requirements change, if say there was a reduction in the number of tags let out

Since all I ever do is buy a deer preference point the only thing I'd like to know is when can I expect my refund?

Their system sucks compared to Wyoming where if you want a point you just buy the dang thing.

Ditto.

You are spot on.

Seems crazy that you have to send a payment for $400 bucks when you are intentionally just buying a preference point.

Saddle up! Let me know if you need to overnight in CO Springs on your way past, it would be great to see you. Good luck up there, much prettier and more rugged than where we hunted last fall. Bet you love it!

Do all of these "yay we drew" posts mean I can expect my deer app refund anytime soon?

What I don't understand is how I had 1pp and another nr buddy of mine had 0pp and he drew 1st rifle and I drew 2ND antlerless in the same zone?

Your post is confusing but it's all based on what you apply for. There are many units you can draw a 1st rifle tag with zero pref points. If you were hoping to get that 1st Rifle tag but applied for another preference point as your first choice and that tag as your second choice, there is definitely a chance your buddy can draw the tag and you won't, assuming he applied for that tag as his first choice option instead of a preference point.

According to the backdoor method I drew a black powder cow elk tag. I applied for a PP first choice and the 2nd, 3rd & 4th choices cow tags.

My 1st Choice was 1st rifle and 2nd choice was 2nd rifle rifle cow, same as him, nobody elected pp for first. That's where I was confused as to how possible.

It shouldn't happen. I would double check what you applied for which you can do via the same method as backdoor, just go to big game tags instead.

Actually how do you even know what you drew? Only the backdoor is out, not the actual results. If you have a 500 code, you drew a tag but there is no way to know which tag you drew yet.

As usual, the CPW computer draw results system is FUBAR (no bueno) today. The draw results page has a message posted stating "Results in progress, please check back this afternoon."
If it says you are successful, I take that to mean you drew. If your points went to 0, you drew 1st choice. If you have one more point than when you applied per the points page, you did not draw 1st choice. This afternoon or sometime before Sept, you will know what tag you drew. I drew 1st choice, because my 1 point is now 0. The statement about receiving a refund or leftover draw packet is in error, if you read SUCCESSFUL.

Unless I'm wrong.
