Day 1 report

Postby BRazz » 08 30, 2016 •  [Post 1]

Went up this morning for a quick outing - turned out to be a 7-mile hike and 2000k feet elevation gained. Came in to work in time for lunch!

In central CO there has been lots of rain, so everything was wet! Up high there was even some spots of slush, I think it wanted to be snow but couldn't quite make it. Weather was chilly (for this time of year) and overcast. I did run into lots of fresh elk sign but heard and saw no elk. The hike was much longer and slower than I thought, so by the time I got to where I had wanted to be at first light, it was 9 am. I wonder what was happening up there at 6 am... We'll find out on Friday (but I'll need to start hiking at 3 am...).
