Then a 3 rd and a forth bugle
With in a minute from the road direction
If it’s a hunter I should see him

In 12 years I’ve never seen a mature bull by that cap site

Just sounded like an aluminum horse trailer rolled down the mountain
Is it elk ? Or moose?
No Singh if it was a hunter bugling earlier

Lefty, keep us posted if you get into anything, and the situation does not get too demanding.

We have a rule...you play out bugles like they are real bulls. Yes, you may come face to face with a hunter, but that is better than missing out on a bull. In fact, one of our groups didn't take a bugle seriously this year and it cost them a nice bull.

I would have never guessed you needed readers..... :o

Go kill that bull.

I believe the 4 last bugles was a hunter .all four within a minute , exactly the same sound
And never heard another Bugle
Watched a couple does one feeding by thewallow the other getting sunburned on a distant ridge

The wind became perfect I worked my way to the middle bull that had been consistent . Maybe I took too much time getting there? And he wasn’t bedded and did hear the other elk moaning

Maybe all the crashing was that bugling bull and the moaning elk mixing it up. I decided not To go after the aluminum trailer pair still thinking it could be moose and tough stuff; old growth with lots of dead fall and40 —60 degree canyon walls with stone more like ball bearings.
Heavy lush growth on a steep side hill great for rifle still hunting but not something for archery
I really slow played the bull took my timebut he never answered I wanted to be soft enough that if it was elk in the canyon couldn’t hear me or respond just not a good archery setup

Time for a nap a bit of lunch, well actually my breakfast I didn’t eat: apple plum crisp
Then a shower then back to that canyon

Well once I found them this evening I didn’t have time to move in on them
I never did see the bugling bull he was going off every 3 - 4 minutes then every minute. He stayed in the dark timber. He gangs out with a couple studs, two 6x6 a five by
I could see where someone drove in about a mile away the elk never spooked so I’ll be there in the morning
