MT Archery Bull

Postby MTLongdraw » 10 01, 2018 •  [Post 1]

Another September has come and gone. Crazy how one month can single handedly effect your entire life! September started off pretty slow for me. Spent a few days hunting with no action. Finally got my week of vacation and busted butt for 5 days with good action but no luck. Seemed like the harder we worked the unluckier we got. Finally on day 5 it just happened. Had a bull pipe off, unprovoked and just below us, two cow calls later he was in range and the arrow was en-route. The whole thing happened in less than a minute...went from lowest of lows to the highest of highs! Made a bad hit but patience and a little bit of luck we were able to find him within 300 yards of the shot. Absolutely ecstatic with this bull. He's just a great reminder to never give up and keep grinding. He really taught me If you're out there you have a chance at getting one. Sometimes I need that reminder!

I leave Sunday for my Idaho rifle tag. Cant wait for the string of memories!

That's a great bull! I'm curious, and no need for units/drainages, but was he from the B-Root corridor? I always hunted north and/or east of Missoula when I lived there.

Hey thanks guys. Looks like there's been some great success for the wapititalk crew. Congratulations to all of you!

Trumpkin to answer your question not this one. Spent a lot of time hunting the root the last 5 years but I didn't spend much time there this year. One day is all. Came close on two separate 5 points but neither worked out. My partner killed a great 5 point there this year

Indian Summer it definitely has been. I stop in from time to time but life has sped up and I'm constantly playing catch up... hoping to save enough vacation and brownie points to have some time in the Fall

Thats a great bull. Congratulations. Looks like that arrow setup you have did some work on him.
Grinding it out till the end makes it that much sweeter. Way to stick with it.
