The Lethal Predator

Postby Swede » 10 04, 2018 •  [Post 1]

What are the one or two things you would want so you could be more effective at getting elk? What would you do? What would you like to know or have?

For me it is simple. I don't need more stuff. I don't know what I don't know, so that is not on my list. Mostly I would like my body to have 40-50 years back.

There are times I take my worries into the elk woods with me. My goal is to leave them at the truck.

My hearing back to normal would be a good start for me!

I need to get serious on my calling. I tried a half dozen times or more with slow playing and breading sequence and nothing came in or even a distant bugle. Very frustrating this isn't the 1st year of trying.
The other is the bull that is standing in his favorite spot not moving how do a person call that bull in.

I would like to see an elk like a foam target while shooting, rather than a live animal. I'm a little slow sometimes having to force myself through the shot sequence, I wish that part felt natural, but it never has for me, I have always had to manually go through the shot sequence.

I also consciously go through all the steps I need to as I prepare for the shot. Bow vertical and properly against the hand, bend at the waist, bend elbow, so I don't hit any clothing, look through the rear sight and the front sight, aim, squeeze, follow through, are all a part of my thought process. I really don't want to change that. I am afraid if I don't consider everything, I will get sloppy in my shooting form. Most of this is always automatic, but I still like the check list. It causes me to take my time. Still I can mess up at times.

Me too! Mine is terrible. Hearing aids in both ears. Having my hearing back wouldn’t just improve my hunting... it would change my whole life.

Again, a shooter out front. In the last 9 years I've put 11bulls in position for the wife. She's killed 1.
