Cisco Disco trip

Postby Lefty » 01 24, 2016 •  [Post 1]

The annual Cisco Disco was on Cisco Beach on Bear Lake again this year. Its not what it use to be.However plenty of people showed up.
Cisco "run" this time of year as they spawn.
In some ways they look like smelt from the Great lakes or Columbia river smelt run.
My daughters and I had fun it is a whole lot easier fishing or netting through the ice. along the shoreline there was 4-6 inches of good clear ice and a few soft spot with soggy 3 inches of ice.

Deep fried in a simple batter: flour, egg milk Alpine Touch seasoning, and lemon pepper.

The cisco I cooked out on the ice had the heads on too, Only because I didnt want to leave the heads on the ice or dump them down a hole
My wife flakes the meat off the bones, Other than big males we cook and eat the skin and scales.
Cisco are a whitefish of some sort, an oily white meat fish.

At one time I wanted to retire on the lake edge of Bear Lake. Way out of our league now.
