Fishing while scouting

Postby BrentLaBere » 07 27, 2016 •  [Post 1]

Ready to get back out west in 2 weeks to try my luck again. Those alpine lakes make a guy feel pretty good about his fly fishing techniques. Just wish the river fishing was that easy. Great top water action on the stocked cutties

Heading to Montana this Saturday afternoon. Hoot Owl times are in place for the Yellowstone, where we planned on camping the first night out so I wont get to test the waters there. Hitting the trail head Sunday morning for an overnight scouting and fishing trip. Anyone have any recommendations for flies? Need to pick up a few more hoppers. I am what you would consider a "colorful" caster at best. Trees of Montana are decorated in flies.....time to restock a few.

Nice.. Leaving next week for MT, I'm looking forward to my first Alpine fishing in the Mission mountains for 4 days and then 6 on Rock Creek, as far as flies I'm planning nymphs until mid morning, then hopper droppers and finish in the afternoon with some caddis. We'll see.
