Campfire elk

Postby six » 11 24, 2015 •  [Post 1]

Kinda a tradition at our elk camp. After the packing is done and all the meat is hung. Its time for elk steaks. We start with the inner loins. We leave them whole and cook them over the campfire. Just trim them up real good and roll them around over a campfire. We use a old metal stainless refrigerator shelf as the grill part. We stack rocks around the fire pit to hold up the grill.

It doesn't get any better than elk loins, a salt shaker, Fritos corn chips and a beverage. No plates required.

Always has and always will be my favorite meal of the year.

Awesome.

I do this with any game. Just did it with some blasted ugly quail. Hit them too hard w the 12g.
