Bald eagles vs turkeys

Postby Stick » 02 28, 2016 •  [Post 1]

Had a buddy tell me recently they were having trouble with the bald eagles killing wild turkeys. Crazy thing is they are killing the mature birds. Told me he personally saw an eagle kill a gobbler. Bird had an 11 inch beard. Not an isolated incident either.

Anyone ever heard of this?

I havent. I ve had skunks bite the heads off of turkeys
Bald eagle are tough characters Twice Ive seen an eagle on Canada geese.

Even had one attack a goose decoy this year
The cut in the decoy was from its talons

A few years back, I came across a fresh killed Turkey carcass, with a Bald Eagle perched on it actively feeding. I did not witness the kill, but I believe that the Eagle did in fact kill the Turkey. Could be mistaken. I have seen Eagles swoop down and capture wounded ducks and geese on several occasions.
