He's a smart one to get that big in that area. Lots of things that want to eat him.

Super bummed. Work just told me my next job got moved up. Now i only get to hunt the first day of september, then its off to alaska. So due to the effort required to get into the area i need to be to hunt the buck i was going to go after, thats no longer worth the trouble, not for one day. Ill just go spend the first in one of my stands in another area to try to get my nemesis from last year. Trying to look on the bright side though, i still get the whole late season off, and leaving earlier on this trip increases my chances of getting back in time for modern elk season.

Well, hell . But.....it looks like the late deer season in your neck of the woods is smack dab in the middle of the WT rut; that's not a bad deal as a consolation prize vs. hunting the entire early season I suppose. Those WT bucks will be outa their heads chasing does during your late archery deer season I would think. Sure hope you get a crack at that dinosaur buck you've been watching. Ya, would be nice you make it back by the end of OCT so you can get some modern elk hunting in before you head out after deerzilla :D.

Elk is oct 26- nov 3. Deer nov 10- dec 15. If i get even the last few days of the elk season to hunt that will make me a happy boy. If the weather is good on my trip i may get the whole thing.
