Buck i missed this season

Postby wawhitey » 12 21, 2018 •  [Post 1]

So at last light on 11/28 this wide 7x5 came into my stand. It was the 4th time id seen him. Long story short, i had a bit of a meltdown, geeked out, arrow hit a branch and i missed him clean. As for my first choice buck i was hunting, had 4 encounters with him too. Was drawn on him twice. Once at 20yrds, once at 30, but wasnt able to send an arrow. Both times i ended up letting down on my draw as he walked away. Ended up taking a dink little 4x4 with 2 hours left in the season. Learned a lot about this area though, and will go into it next year far better prepared.

Ive got about a million pics of him. He actually has a little crabclaw going on his left where he tried to grow a matching g5. I really dont think hes that old. Theres a big 4x4 that was around him a lot, and it has a bigger body and this wide buck was definitely showing throat to him. Any time the 4x4 stepped toward him, this guy would back off. Really hoping he grows a matching g5 on his left next year. He had split brows on both sides, but whoever ripped his left ear apart also busted off the fork of his left brow.

Man! That does sting! I'm the kind of guy that doesn't care how big they will be next year when they are way big enough this year!

I assume he will be bigger next year though, he is cool right now, hopefully you can get his sheds

If theyre big enough this year, i wont worry about next year either. Too much uncertainty around here with all the lions and wolves around to bank on them surviving until next season.
