rut crazed youngster

Postby wawhitey » 11 13, 2015 •  [Post 1]

Sorry crappy pic, took it with my cellphone through my dirty living room window.  This guy seems to think he owns the place, been prowling around my house all day harassing does, sniffing all over, horning the hell out of a bunch of trees.  Hes got a bunch of strips of tree hanging off his left base.  He chased a doe through my yard down into my pasture a little while ago, then just before dark chased her back up through my yard into the timber.  Hes been acting crazy as hell.  I suspect one of the big bucks is going to put him in his place before long.

Id love to see him come back bigger each year for the next few years, but i wont shoot him no matter how big. Dont think it would be very satisfying, and id rather get to keep watching him do his thing. I dont have a tv, i just watch the critters out my windows. Was hoping to get his sheds last year, but i left town and ran out of alfalfa in my yard before he dropped. This year i have a barn load, and am hoping for a barn load of sheds laying around the house!

Well i was happy to get tcam pics of my buddy here working a scrape the day after late rifle ended, nov 20th. But i havent seen him since, despite putting a lot of feed out. He has to be dead, only explanation. He may be wolf or cougar poo, but the smart money would be bet on my scumbag neighbors poached him after season.

Hopefully he is still around. I used to think this buck must have been killed a few different times because he would disappear for weeks or even month but he shows up every once in awhile still. He is a unique blacktail so it's easy for me to pic him out. I think he hangs out on other peoples property and/or goes quite nocturnal so I don't see him all the time. This was a picture I took out my window as well....at about 3 feet. lol
