Mule Deer

Postby BrentLaBere » 11 22, 2016 •  [Post 1]

Helped a friend get his ND mule deer. Had a fun hunt. Found some mt lion tracks and elk tracks. Saw some good bucks in great country. Im putting a phone scope on my Christmas wish list and counting down the days until I can hunt out there next year.

My passion for whitetail hunting has limited me to not hunting in western ND and thats going to change next year. Im really starting to like this mule deer hunting. Hunting the badlands certainly helps.

The buck has great character and ending up scoring a little over 161.

For me, its all about whitetail. But a few of the places i hunt whiteys have some good muleys too. So im not going to target mule deer, but if i ever get a chance to take a real big mature muley buck on accident i will, just to do it once. My dad on the other hand has a big 6x5 whitey, and a hog of a blacktail on the wall, and he really wants a good muley buck to hang with them. I hung a cam near a spring where i found a big matched set of muley sheds, and this guy lives there, with a couple other dandys. Its now my dads early archery spot apparently. he can have it, no big whitetails there.

Thanks guys,
Paul, I cant go hunting without that spotting scope I bought from your store! Sure makes spotting those mules easier. Just need to add the phone scope for better pictures.

Wawhitey,
haha that sounds like my dad, isnt interested in hunting until the big one comes out and he will take over the blind/stand. I have a passion for whitetails and it sure is hard to pass up. Hunting mule deer has its appeal because of the landscape and amount of public land to hunt out west here. Getting on private land sure has its battles. Not sure ill ever be able to give up hunting whitetail.
