OTC Mulies with kids?

Postby Cbb » 03 10, 2017 •  [Post 1]

If you have 2 teenage boys and wanted to take them on a fun mule deer hunt what would be a good state? I am considering taking them on a little trip in 2018. Not looking for any monster bucks. Or anyones secret spot.
Would like to take them somewhere they could see deer somewhat consistently. They will be 14 this fall, both have killed several whitetails here in PA.

I would consider antelope also.

I have never hunted any other states, but according to the license plates on the road we hunt I guess Idaho is a hot place for California and Washington residents. Idaho has really good deals for out of state youth hunts, unless that has changed this year but I don't think it will. Are you looking for a rifle or archery hunt?

We use to do doe tags for antelope in Wyoming. Two tags apiece , lots of targets, plenty of failed stalks and just plain fun. And very family friendly!!!
And you as the family guide it is a whole lot easier to cut up an antelope

I heard a lot of whining about the non res youth A lot of pressure to change. Im ok if the doe hunts are canceled after this winter,.. if the area warrants closure

We've been building deer points in Colorado for a mulie hunt. Not sure about any other states.

I was thinking a bit more on mulies.
Western SD ND and Nebraska can have some real sleeper areas. Big ranch country an alfalfa field and a permission can be golden.
