GoTenna app

Postby Fridaythe13th » 10 11, 2017 •  [Post 1]

Has any body used this app in the mountains were there is no cell service. I don't know how it works but it reads:

Go Tenna
Text & share locations on your smartphone, even without cell service or wifi.

Let me know if it works or how it works?

It's more hardware than app. Pretty pricey just to have texting capability with others that have the pricey hardware. It won't allow you to text family, unless, by some extremely remote chance, there is someone with a gotenna, has it on, and is within cell phone range. I can't see much application to hunting (not at the cost I saw anyway) but a great option for organized but disjunct groups like search and rescue, wildland firefighters, etc.

Yes. It requires an antenna that your phone works through and talks to people that have a phone hooked to a different antenna.
