What will you need next year!!

Postby Lefty » 10 02, 2018 •  [Post 1]

I left my face masks somewhere, and I need a long sleeve thin/cool t shirts
and maybe a short bumper pull camper
But I was impressed with an Alaskan Guide bino case( maybe for Christmas)

I love my Alaskan Guide bino pouch! I’ve had it for like 15 years and not one thing is wrong with it.

What I need for next year is time and lots of it! I think I’m going to take 2 full weeks. I’ll spend the first one in an area that opens in September for gun and then move over to hunt my main unit the week it opens up. That’s a master plan I tell ya!

I could use a good propane heater. With the high fire danger, I could not use my wood heater, yet it did get cold at night. I think I will get one that puts out plenty of heat to warm up a 12X14 tent. After sitting all day in a tree stand and being cold, I like to warm up at night. Any suggestions on a good heater would be appreciated.

BTW: I suspect this thread is on the wrong forum.

Need a lightweight, layering, puffy jacket! I borrowed my buddies older model Sitka on our hunt this year and it was great. Looking at one made by First Lite that I think will fit the bill (extremely light weight, stuffs down to nothing when not worn, and looks like it'll make a nice, lightweight, final layer over my base and mid).

And who is willing to call on occasion

Swede while this only has a couple nights in the 20s
I have sleeping in the back of my pick up
And I sleep warmer than at home.i us d a 10 degree bag mostly unzipped then a lightweight bag over the top to make adjust ion my body temp. Both bags are flannel lined so I am comfy
I’ve had a cool nose and maybe an arm but I stay warm every night

I also have two other bags for when it is cold

But in pushing my wife for an rv bumper pull
Putting on socks and cold clothes while standing by the passenger door really stinks

Just to clarify, I have a warm sleeping bag. Sleeping warm is not a problem. When I get back to camp, I need to make some dinner and eat. I may stay up for a couple of hours depending on the time of the season. It would be nice to take the chill off the tent and just kick back for awhile. And be warm at the same time.

I have been strongly considering the little Buddy Propane heater. Thanks

After reading Paul’s review of Iron Will heads, I may be looking at new broadheads.

I always take a sponge bath and wash my hair in the evening after dinner. I would prefer doing that in the early afternoon, but that would require me coming in for lunch, etc. Getting all wet ain't much fun at 45 degrees. It is much better at 70*f.
I am a firm believer in doing everything practical to minimize my scent. You are welcome to do what you want. I bathe daily.

Goes anywhere you go, gravity heater (no electricity needed), vents to outside. 4 burner stove with oven, 40 gallon water tank, etc. This one is 1978 vintage. Cost? $600.00. Bisquits after a long wet day anyone?

Where is your camp jhg? I will stop in for hot biscuits if you are reasonably close. Campers are good, but too cramped for any more than two guys. With a camper I would need a utility trailer and something to store some gear outside. That could all be in the utility trailer if it was covered.

Two guys max in the camper for sure. I hunt solo almost always. I had a perfect 7' single axle trailer- carried the coolers, etc and the head back home. I could move it by hand too. That was handy. Never should have sold that one.

On the other side of the deal, I bought all new ultra lightweight gear this year with the thoughts of going back to packing into wilderness areas. I found out my mind was in better shape than my body and the one over night trip I did, proved the point. This stuff was used one night, like new, and I might be selling it as a package.

Luxe Hiking gear Megahorn teepe with stove jack
Kifiru SS steel medium sized wood stove. Only lit once for initial burn in.Unused
Desert Walker ultra light fold up cot
REI ultra light fold up chair.
Klymit Luxe pillow
Klymit static V Luxe sleeping pad. Unused, This is the wide one
