Wild Turkey Recipes?

Postby WapitiTalk1 » 02 15, 2019 •  [Post 1]

OK I’ve heard nothing but bad about the taste of the wild gobblers from the cats I know. Are they really that horrible? Is there some good recipes out there? Is smoking them a good option? I’m not gonna plug anything I won’t/can’t eat ;)

Slice the breast up in chucks like chicken nuggets and fry them! I guarantee you’ll love it.

Its not bad, theres just not much meat on em worth a damn. Pretty much just the breast. Just not worth the money / effort to hunt them in my opinion. In wa you need a small game license, then something like 17 bucks per turkey tag. Basically around $70 to shoot two non native birds. Im not playing that game.

The breasts are good smoked. They tend to dry pretty bad so I wrap them in bacon to smoke.

I've picked and smoked the whole bird as well and that is good.

I think they're delicious, I like to take the breasts and season then tie them together with butcher string and roast or smoke them. You can even stuff some goodies between them as you're tying together. All the rest I stick in a crock pot/insta pot and cook until the meat falls off the bone and use for sandwiches, soup or casseroles.
