Wapititalk1 - Out of Office

Postby WapitiTalk1 » 10 03, 2019 •  [Post 1]

I hate to even announce this after the tomfoolery that occurred the last time I was out (during the Idaho hunt), but, here I go. Will finish packing up the red truck tonight and leave early tomorrow morning for my Evergreen State smoke pole elk hunt. I'll be back in cell service on SAT, October 12 at the latest. You all know the rules when I'm gone. No fightin', no cussin', no spittin', no burpin', no staying up past 10:00 PM, no driving of my car. Wishing all of you safe travels and success if you're getting ready to head on a hunt. RJ

Sleep well RJ and enjoy your hunt. After all, what could go wrong here?

Hey guys: We have an "all clear" until the 12th. :D

No worries RJ, we don't have to drive it to get it to the shop for some much needed exterior upgrades. Rest easy and good hunting, We will make sure everything is done so she is ready before you get back.

Ya, looks like major precipitation next week. I've got the barrel condoms on standby; we'll see how "waterproof" these new in-line muzzle loaders are :?.

If it is wet, shoot or pull the bullet every night, start w a dry load every morning. There is no experience like popping a cap/misfire, and your bull giving you stink-eye from 50 yards before disappearing.

I hope your 90 year old father in law gets one Lefty! That would be cool.

As for RJ being out of the office, I will be around for most of it. I will make a (feeble) attempt to keep the cats herded. Here goes:

Everyone (kinda, sorta) behave.

There I did it. No blame for me if all of the sponsor links go to weight-loss sites!

Hey Swede, how are you coming on the homemade bug deflector for Big Red? I think Lefty ordered the fuzzy dice. And I really like Indian Summer's idea of retrofitting the backseat for a built in dog kennel. I cannot wait until RJ sees all of the improvements. He will be so happy with us!

The bug deflector is about finished. I am still working on the canteen holder part. The idea is to find a good canvas water sack to hang in front of Big Red's grille so when R.J. or his dogs get thirsty, they can have a refreshing drink. Those canvas water sacks were all the rage with loggers in the mid 50s. Anyway the bug deflector needs to be well reinforced to handle the weight of the water. I think the hanger needs to be located at the bottom of the deflector so it does not put undue stress on the deflector itself or the hood.

I have all the under carriage led lighting for Red
Just waiting on the low rider hydraulic suspension Jump Pump

We should surprise the boss and repaint red
If you fellers get the paint
I have a good spray gun and I’m not too bad , just no pearls or metallic

We won't need a sprayer to paint red. I have a new roller and a fairly good paint brush. I have some for grey and barn red. Do you thing we could come up with something that resembles camo? That way we would not need to clean out the brush or roller as we go from one color to another.

Enough! I was worried about how you misfits we’re behaving so I’m back from my remote WA ML hunt a few days early. Actually, a bad stomach virus made my trip a bit in the challenging side so I’ll finish out the last few days hunting locally.

It was probably that stinky Jake guy you were with. He has that effect on people.

Jake never made it to my camp; he ended up getting into some nice bulls up north and couldn’t leave that action. ;)

Sorry to hear you had to cut it short RJ. That really stinks.

But, uh, um, well, Big Red will be back in the shed within, oh, say, maybe a couple of days. Swede, kinda had to, well, run an errand or two with it. Yeah, errands, that is what he is doing. He needed the transportation cuz his rig was feeling under the weather and he didn't want to get it dirty. I am sure he will leave you with a little something for letting him borrow it!

Just so you know, Lefty stayed up to !0:08 pm the other night. And Joe spit. Twice.

Keep after it, Jeremiah Johnson! Sorry to hear about feeling bad, that's the sh!tz, brother. I know of several people on the CO Front Range that have had a severe stomach flu lasting over a week, during the last month. Unsure if the same thing is available to our friends in the Northwest. From reports I've heard, this one will keep you @ home and next to the commode if you catch it. Wash those hands often, sanitize when in public places, consider a flu shot.
